Photographic Negative to Digital
Order Planner
We want ordering your photographic
negatives to digital
services from us to be as easy as possible. Below you will find
the steps for placing your order and some other suggestions that may
help us to create the exact results you desire in your photographic
negatives to digital
project results.
5. If
Desired, Organize Your Photographic Negatives
If you wish to edit the digital image files
yourself or you just need your photographic negativess scanned economically
and don't want any image editing or retouching, package up
your photographic negatives and send them to us. You will receive high quality
digital image files on a CD or data DVD.
If, however, you are looking for a
completely finished project when you receive your CD or data DVD,
investing some time to organize your photographic negatives to digital project will not
only help assure the most pleasing results, but could also reduce the
costs.
First, you may want to organize
your photographic negatives by year, by event, by subject, etc.
For instance, let's say you would like
to have your photographic negatives organized by year, and you have selected our
bulk pricing option. Sort your photographic negatives by year. Wrap each set
of photographs with a simple piece of tissue paper labeled with the year, and
slip them all into your Ziploc®
bags. (We recommend tissue
paper for photographic negatives to prevent any scratching of the
negatives.) We will create separate
folders for each group of photographic negatives you have assembled.
In this way, your CD or data DVD will be organized in a way that makes
finding and using the digital images much easier for you.
Naming of your digital images is
another factor to consider. Included
in our pricing is auto file naming. We will organize your photographic
negatives into folders per your instructions numbering each image file
within the folder chronologically. If you prefer to have the image
files identified by subject, etc., we offer this option. If you
choose this option, you must put your photographic negatives in order
and include a list detailing what file name you want for each
photographic negative. We assume the first negative of the first
negative strip is #1, the second #2, etc. Assuming you have strips
of 4 negatives (which is most common), the second negative strip will
begin with #5. Simply give us a numbered list of the file names
you want, and we will name accordingly.
Need a only a few enlargements from
the photographic negatives in your project? Separate
them from the rest of your order. You can request just those
photographic negatives to be scanned at higher resolution to keep the cost of your
project in line.
Lots of color images of people?
If your project contains a large number of color images of people,
redeye reduction is probably worth
considering. You probably will not see the redeye distortion in
the negative, but it may still be there. Because
redeye is a very displeasing
effect in your finished images, we offer redeye correction at a very
economical cost. If you select bulk pricing,
redeye correction is priced as a
flat fee. If you choose individual pricing, you will pay for
redeye correction per negative.
In this case, it would be best if you separate the negatives you want
corrected from those that require no adjustment.
Again, if you wish to edit the
digital image files yourself or just need them scanned, package up your
photographic negatives and send them to us. You will receive high quality digital
image files on a CD or data DVD.
As you can see, a little planning on your
part before you send us your photographic negatives to digital project can save you
money as well as assure you the quality results you're looking for in
the finished product.
