Photographic Slides to
Digital Order Planner
We want ordering your photographic slides to digital
services from us to be as easy as possible. Below you will find
the steps for placing your order and some other suggestions that may
help us to create the exact results you desire in your photo to digital
project results.
If you wish to edit the digital image files
yourself or you just need your slides scanned economically, package up
your slides and send them to us. You will receive high quality
digital image files on a CD or data DVD.
If, however, you are looking for a
completely finished project when you receive your CD or data DVD,
investing some time to organize your slides to digital project will not
only help assure the most pleasing results, but could also reduce the
costs.
If your slides are in carousels,
you do not need to remove them. While many scanning services
charge extra for working from your carousels, we do not. In fact,
we prefer to work from the carousels.
Next, you may want to organize
your slides by year, by event, by subject, etc.
For instance, let's say you would like
to have your slides organized by year, and you have selected our
bulk pricing option. Sort your slides by year. Wrap each set
of slides with a simple piece of tissue paper labeled with the year,
rubber band them, and
slip them all into your Ziploc®
bags. We will create separate
folders for each group of slides you have assembled. In this
way, your CD or data DVD will be organized in a way that makes finding
and using the photos much easier for you.
Naming of your digital images is
another factor to consider. Included
in our pricing is auto file naming. We will organize your slides into folders per your instructions numbering each image file within the
folder chronologically. If you prefer to have the image files
identified by subject, etc., we offer this option. If you choose
this option, you must label each slide with the file name you
prefer. We recommend labeling on the slide mount in pencil. Use care if
using ink! If you stack slides with wet ink on the back, you may
damage the face of other slides with ink smudges.
Need a only a few enlargements from
the slides in your project? Separate
them from the rest of your order. You can request just those
slides to be scanned at higher resolution to keep the cost of your
project in line.
Lots of color slides of people?
If your project contains a large number of color slides of people,
redeye reduction is probably worth
considering. If you select bulk pricing,
redeye correction is priced as a
flat fee. If you choose individual pricing, you will pay for
redeye correction per print.
In this case, it would be best if you separate the slides you want
corrected from those that require no adjustment.
Again, if you wish to edit the
digital image files yourself or just need them scanned, package up your
prints and send them to us. You will receive high quality digital
image files on a CD or data DVD.
As you can see, a little planning on your
part before you send us your photographic slides to digital project can save you
money as well as assure you the quality results you're looking for in
the finished product.
